The Torres de Meirás is a landmark: a construction whose symbolic meaning
is closely connected to Franco regime. Nevertheless, The Torres itself has a particular history:
they were planned and built by Emilia Pardo Bazán in a state where there was before another
construction, the Farm of Meirás, that also belonged to the family and that was actually Doña
Emilia studio. In this article I will analyze the reason why the Torres were constructed, as well as
their characteristics and the different usages of the building in the times of Emilia Pardo Bazán,
when they became a cultural referent.
