The intertextual dialogue established in Pardo Bazán’s stories with authors and
works from different literatures helps readers to get to know the literary classics. In this paper
I study the presence of a series of works and authors, mentioned, alluded to or quoted in the
stories of Doña Emilia, through which foreign students in our classrooms can come into contact
with significant texts from their own literature first, and from Spanish literature later.
